Thought #1: I'm generally not the type of person to listen to classical music in the car. Sure, every once in a while when I need something to soothe the road rage right out of me, but it's not my typical go-to music. But this week I was listening to KUSC because it's Pledge Time, and everyone knows that Pledge Time is the best time to listen to any classical music station because they play the popular fun songs. For example, today was filled with the Star Wars music, The Sorcerer's Apprentice, and La Boheme -- all fantastic pieces. In between the songs the 'hosts' read off the names of people who have recently pledged and their reasons why. On my way to work I heard this, "Sally from La Crescenta has pledged in honor of her cat, Fluffy. Fluffy just loves our station. Sally leaves the radio on all day long so that Fluffy can enjoy the music while she's home alone." I could not stop laughing. And this didn't just happen once, but five times during my 20-minute commute. Five Times! This is why I could never have a pet. I would not ever think to leave classical music on all day long for my dog. How would I know if my turtle loved it? What if I totally messed up my gerbil by playing ACDC, when he really wanted the Carpenters? Would I need to hire a pet whisperer? It's all in the realm of ridiculousness to me. Am I heartless or just using common-sense? You be the judge.
Thought #2: It was so good to have so many of you here in lovely California last weekend. We missed you Sam, Stacy and fam. And Camille -- fantastic photos!
Thought #3: Last night for book club we discussed a book about writing a biography and so our food theme was Food That Would Make It Into Your Biography. What would you have showed up with? Mine first thoughts were Mom's cookies, triple chocolate cake, and Sunday night popcorn.

Fish are very low maintainance pets and they don't worry about music
I think Sunday night popcorn needs to have a biography on it's own. And seriously, people called in to dedicate a song to their cat. I just don't understand. Sick and wrong!
